The Idea
December 17, 2021
So, I had an idea. The idea is simple, I want to build clocks, wooden wall clocks. I currently work at a local business where we build rustic birdhouses, so I work with wood and tools all day and am comfortable with building things.
It was this last December; my mom was putting up decorations and had taken down our living room clock to set up something new where the clock had once hung. I happened to walk by it while it was laying on the table and picked it up to look at it. I realized that it was something that I could build and that probably wouldn’t be too difficult either. I looked it over and saw that the only difficult part would be the clock mechanism and the hands since I obviously won’t be able to build that. I looked it up on Amazon and saw that they cost around 2-3 dollars, which was something I could afford even on my college student budget.
I spent the next few days on YouTube watching videos on how other people had made clocks and also googling unique clock designs that people had made for inspiration. I think I will reach out to my uncle who owns a cabinet building business and see if I can take some of his pallets and take them apart to use for my clocks. There are so many different styles and types the options are literally endless. You can do different shapes like circles, squares, hexagons, etc. Or you can do different types of numbering, such as roman numerals, numbers, tick marks, etc. Endless opportunities.
I am looking forward to writing whatever comes in the future weeks and hopefully both the clock idea and this blog become something of some significance. I’ve had a desire for entrepreneurship for some time and have been wanting an idea that I could put my time and energy into but until now I hadn’t been able to think of one.
This is extremely exciting for me because I think this could be a promising idea. Clocks shouldn’t be too difficult to build, and they sell for a fairly decent price from what I’ve seen from googling different ones. I think I could have some pretty insane profit margins on this if it works out, but I think I’m getting a little ahead of myself now.
See you next week.
