I took a road trip with my boss this week to get a load of cedar wood. The cedar wood is the wood I used to make my very first clock and it is by far my favorite wood to use. It’s extremely lightweight and very strong. Perfect for a clock.
The cedar wood that he gets is cut-offs and is not full boards. They are typically around 20-25 inches long, which is perfect for birdhouses… and clocks. He got this wood from a fencing company that cuts off the 20–25-inch portion of their board because it’s too long for their purposes.
We left at 6:00 am and had a three-and-a-half to four-hour drive ahead of us. On the way, I asked him questions about his business, production costs, and different business-related things. It was a very enjoyable drive and we stopped for the best donuts I’ve ever had.
He knew that this was the wood I liked to use most and told me I could come along with him to get it. We had two stops where we got wood, and this is all the wood we ended up with.

Isn’t that insane? That’s so much wood. I can’t wait for it to get dried so I can start using it. He said that it should only take a week or two for the wood to dry. I know that this has not been a very eventual few weeks, but now that I will have some dry wood here soon, I’m sure that will change.
